Toyo Pumps – DP150B

Dredging works often involve large vessels equipped with huge pumps. Many of them require heavy duty pumps presenting more reasonable dimensions.

Egypt recently launched an ambitious investment plan to develop its infrastructures. One of these projects, the construction of a tunnel below the Suez Canal, started with the digging of large holes in which, later, the drilling machine is to be introduced.

Sand extraction has started using an excavating machine and a grappler. That solution was time consuming and would not have permitted to respect the planning.

Thanks to the excellent introduction of the company’s local agent, Toyo Pumps Europe was selected to participate in a competitive test on the job site. Their sales engineer succeeded, with the help of their local partner, to demonstrate that our Toyo submersible pump with agitator DP150B was the best solution.

The Toyo DP pump range has been specially designed to handle extra heavy and abrasive slurries. These centrifugal pumps with closed impeller, feature a unique agitator design. This agitator lifts sediments into suspension, creating a slurry mixture.

Robust construction, careful selection of materials and unique contour components, coupled with a low speed high torque motor, have produced a pump with excellent abrasion resistance as well as a sufficient weight and an important torque. These characteristics enable the DP150B to pump slurries with solid concentration up to 70%, they ensure also long service life and economical operation.

The digging job is now going on, following the planning, and a second DP150B, in high depth version, has, in the meantime, been delivered.

The DP150B high depth version is equipped with a pressure compensator system which enables the pump to work at a 120m working depth, particularly useful for special foundations.
